Chairman - Dherar Belhoul al Falasi
His Excellency Dherar Belhoul al Falasi is the Chairman and Co-Founder of Thouwd Risk Management
He served for years as a member of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates. He founded the Watani Al Emarat Foundation, one of the leading public policy institutes in the GCC, where he previously served as Executive Director.
He is the recipient of numerous honors and medals including the UAE Minister of Interior’s Medal of Excellence for Social Service. His leadership in the fields of philanthropy, the charitable sector, and volunteer work have made a big impact in the UAE, the GCC region and far beyond. He has worked to raise global awareness about the threats facing the most vulnerable around the world, including women and children.
He played a critical leadership role in the UAE’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, widely recognized as one of the most effective public health responses anywhere in the world. He is the author of several books and numerous articles on a wide range of topics, including relating to global security.
He has been a tireless champion of the United Arab Emirates, working to strengthen its community ties, preserve its cultural heritage, protect its national security, bolster its international relationships, and cement its future as a key global hub for the 21st century economy.
Managing Director - Simon Carnegie
Simon Carnegie is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Thouwd Risk Management. He is a highly experienced security leader, with over thirty years of experience in the sector and an unparalleled Rolodex of contacts. He played a key role in providing risk management and security solutions for the 2012 London Olympics and has also provided such services for major development projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Carnegie is the founder and CEO of the security consultancy Eigenrac, which during the summer of 2021 played a critical role in evacuating people to safety from Afghanistan. For years, he has been a go-to security solutions provider for ports, the aviation sector, oil & gas, the nuclear industry, mass transit, sporting events, retail, and critical national infrastructure. He has extensive experience in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Central America, and Central Asia. Before his work in the private sector he served in the Royal Marines, operating globally in difficult and hostile environments. He is a member of the American Society for International Security (ASIS) and a member of the Security Institute in the UK.
Paul Cruickshank is a Co-Founder and Executive Director of Thouwd Risk Management.
He is the Co-Founder and CEO of the geopolitical risk consultancy Cruickshank & Dean Global Intelligence and a Partner and Managing Director at the advisory firm EMIR. He previously served as CNN’s Terrorism analyst for more than a decade.
Since 2015 he has served as the Editor in Chief of CTC Sentinel, the flagship publication of the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, widely viewed as one of the most prestigious publications in the international security field
